Subluxation Station

The Millennium Subluxation Station is a research standard piece of equipment designed to examine the balance and tone of your nervous system. Scans are carried out at intervals throughout care to assess for changes in balance within the body. This enables us to objectively measure the changes that happen in the body during care.
Only approximately 10% of your nervous system is sensory. The other 90% controls, regulates and moves the body around. As Chiropractors we are interested in the entire 100% as only when this is functioning optimally can we have any chance of health and balance.
There are two standard scans that are carried out.  The Thermal scan and the Surface EMG.

Thermal Scan

The thermal scan reads temperature differences associated with changes in blood flow. Blood flow is controlled by the sympathetic nervous system. This is a part of the autonomic system that regulates bodily functions such as heart rate, digestion, blood flow and sweat response.
Imbalances in the nervous system control of blood flow lead to hot areas segmentally along the length of the spine. A graphical representation can then be made of the variations. This can give an indication of other systems that may likewise be affected.

sEMG

The sEMG (surface electromyography) shows the electrical activity of the para spinal muscles. This scan shows us balance and tone of muscles around the spine and compares this to what would be expected in a normal healthy patient.
The entire body is held apart by muscles. That is right apart! Too little tone will place more stress on the articular structures around the spine. These structures can alter over time as the body attempts to stabilise. This is the cause of arthritis.
Imbalance in tone can also lead to abnormal stress on the joints of the spine with the same end result.
