This is a new classification that encompasses all forms of learning difficulties and behavioural problems. The diagnosis is based upon the results of a neurological examination that looks at issues such as balance, coordination and control of eye movement.
Developmental delay describes an incomplete development of the brain. Resulting imbalances could lead to the symptoms of dyslexia, dyspraxia, ADD, ADHD, OCD and Tourette's.
Careful neurological examination of the child can give an indication of whether an imbalance is present
and where in the nervous system the weakness lies. Stimulation, in the form of computer generated images, Chiropractic adjustments and specific physical exercises are then used to improve the balance and quality of communication. Advice is also given on nutrition and certain lifestyle changes that have to be made to support the developing nervous system. The combination of the diet changes, adjustments and exercises enables the under functioning areas of the brain to mature and balance.

The new approach to managing Developmental delay was discovered by Dr Robin Pauc.
Dr Pauc is a Chiropractor and a qualified Chiropractic Neurologist. He has done extensive research and has been developing his protocols over a number of years. He has now trained a number of Chiropractors to offer this management within their practices around the UK and abroad.
If you wish to know more about developmental delay, either phone the practice to talk to Dr Southam, read the books "Is That My Child", "The brain food plan" and "Could it be you". Or explore the Tinsley House Clinic web site (The address is found in our links page).
This method of management for Developmental Delay is novel and, as such, does not yet have scientific evidence to back up its efficacy. Results of management show promise and we hope that scientific evidence will follow shortly. for more information please visit the Tinsley House web site through the links page.
